I went to Hong Kong once with my parents. We flew in from Shanghai. It was my first trip "abroad". Even though Hong Kong is part of China, you still need visa to go there.
For my parents, it was a shopping trip. But for me, it was pretty eye opening. Driver's seat is on the right instead of left. Every time when we talked across the street, I was always looking at wrong direction naturally... The street is also so narrow, the city was packed with people. It seemed very busy and noisy.
As soon as you get off from subway at the exit of Tsim Shabu Tsui, you will see Kowloon Park. Hard to believe that they have such a quiet place in such noisy downtown. Many local people hung out in the park, good place for get away from busy days.
I liked the flamingos. There were so many of them. Didn't see live flamingos before, I was a little bit excited. I also liked the statues they put up, there are all familiar figures that I know from cartoon books.
Everything was expensive there. I didn't care to buy anything, while my parents seemed to be pretty happy and kept on swiping their cards... I was tired, and just wanted to go back to the hotel and play games.
