Hi everyone, this is my take on the weekly battle challenge. This week staring:
Chaos Knight
Let me introduce you to my lineup:
Lore:
At nearly eighty years old, Mother Khala is the oldest practicing summoner of Khymeria. Khala always wears a smile, and even in tournament battle she hums and whistles happy tunes to herself. She wears heavy knit clothing of various bright colors and carries a hand carved staff that seems to be the source of many of her magical powers.
Reasoning:
Since Chaos Knight doesn't get anything out of +1 ranged and we are in a low mana battle, Mother Khala is clearly the best choice.
Lore:
Chaos Knights are most often found at the front line of the Chaos Legion's invading forces, although they are sometimes enlisted to defend garrisons, leadership, and other high-value assets. They are heavily armored and wield massive battle axes that are able to cut down even the mightiest of foes.
Those of the Order of the Silver Shield stood waiting as the Legion of Chaos closed the distance between the two armies. The Shieldbearers in the front rank planted their shields firmly in the earth and set their feet, while archers and mages readied their bows and their spells. Those wielding melee weapons tightened their grips on their hafts and hilts, ready to charge once the Shieldbearers had born the brunt of the initial assault.
At the head of the column opposite them, Chaos Knights led the charge, the throng behind them screaming and jostling to be the first into battle. The heavily armored knights hefted battle axes that were impossibly large, and those of the Order of the Silver Shield eyed them warily.
Arrows flew. Spells were flung. At last, the two armies met, clashing together with a violent ringing of steel on steel. The Shieldbearers leaned into their shields, preparing to give those in the rear as much time as possible to inflict their lethal ranged damage. But when the Chaos Knights swung their mighty battle axes, the Shieldbearers could not hold the line. They staggered backward. Another swing, and the Order's front rank broke.
Then the Legions of Chaos swarmed over them.
Reasoning:
Chaos Knight is a great tank, especially in low mana battles. Since we have a Lost Magic ruleset, we are safe against our worst foes, magic monsters.
Lore:
Stitch Leeches are able to heal themselves and others of their wounds. They are found in the deepest caves of the world and are bred from the life energy they take from others. Once they latch onto their victim, they siphon out healing life element to cure themselves. Magical practitioners have even been trained to use them as portable life magic. Though it is a dangerous practice and comes with the risk of the leech biting them.
Archmage Eldanna Willowill pulled the sheet off a glass tank. Inside the plump Life Leeches squirmed, leaving trails of moisture along the glass. Her apprentice, Kyvan Jones, recoiled.
“Their bite is as painful as all the hells, so be careful when handling one,” Eldanna advised.
Kyvan scrunched up his nose. “I don't know if I want healing this badly. They're gross!”
Eldanna smiled. She had thought the same thing when she was a young mage. But experiences in battle had changed her mind.
“When you are bleeding out, you'll feel differently,” she advised.
Reasoning:
While Chaos Knight protects the frontline, our Stich Leech will take care of their backline, Stich Leech is one the best if not the best sneak monster.
Lore:
The harpies of the Celestial Clan are called as such because they dwell on the highest peaks of the mountains across the Splinterlands and prefer peace over violence. Their feathers are the blue and white colors of the sky, making them hard to see for anyone on the ground. They sing beautiful melodies that can sometimes be heard on a gentle spring breeze. Living in peaceful clans, the harpies remain to themselves and immerse in a world of beauty, art, and freedom.
*Because of their beautiful plumage and the mystical stories told about them, hunters come. They journey far up the mountains, seeking to kill a harpy for coin and glory. But any hunter that makes it that high never comes back. For the Celestial Clan works as a team to defend one another. And they do not show mercy to those who have darkness in their heart. *
The harpies' heads tilted up to watching the rising sun. The break of dawn across the world, changing colors from gray to blue. On their mountain peak, the harpies of the Celestial clan had a view over the world.
And as the sun rose, they sang. First one began, then another, and another. Until their voices weaved in lovely harmony from the mountain peaks.
The sounds drifted on the air, carried down the slopes in a breeze and to the villages below. A welcome greeting.
Reasoning:
Celestial Harpy protects the backline decently with its flying while the frontline is still protected by Chaos Knight. The opportunity is just the icing on the cake. In low mana battles, it's often enough to kill a unit here or there.
Into the battle:
Round 1:
Commentary
Great matchup, we dodged an armor and cursed windeku team. The Knifer and -2 armor for our Chaos Knight is a bit annoying but way better than the alternatives. We have clearly the better backline. We should be good as long as the Knifer doesn't evade our attacks.
Round 2:
Commentary
This is the bad part of our lineup we spread out the damage across all his units. But at least Celestial evades the attack and we hit Knifer with our Chaos Knight.
