I guess one of the reasons some people would rather not take up the banner is mainly due to fear - fear of the consequences, fear of failure, and maybe even fear of embarrassment.

Don't do it! Did you see that guy??? He's a freaking bulldozer!!! He'll murder you!

But.. but what if I'm not good enough and just end up making a fool of myself?...

Jeez... Poor guy! I would've helped, but... I didn't want to interfere in what doesn't concern me.

It's common excuses like that, everyday people often make; however, that's not necessary always a bad thing. There's something called unnecessary intervention so to speak, which often tends to incur unwanted karma. Heck, no one can blame you for looking out for your own safety.

HOWEVER, i would say, if it is of pure intent, taking up the banner and lending a helping hand to another, can never be a wrong thing.

Personally, if the situation is right or at least, is in something of my power, I wouldn't think twice to *take the banner.
