SUMO NETSUKE
Sumo the Japanese martial art of wrestling. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sumo
Netsuke the Japanese art of miniature sculpture. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netsuke

I made this video to show the stages I go through when I'm sculpting, so it's not a how to vid, just a " how I do it", there are plenty of other ways to go about doing this kind of sculpting.

This piece is called Sumo, there was no design sketches beforehand , so I played about with the clay until I found something. Doing it without working it out on paper first, means it takes a bit longer to find a character.

Once the sculpture is complete, I then take silicone molds of the piece so I can cast it any material I choose.
These molds can also be used for the lost wax process if you're feeling a bit Flush and fancy getting some bronze's cast.

Here is the finished sculpture

Finalized in bronze and ivory (reproduction of course).
