Another 1,000 LIMITLESS are in the bag! And this time I had the feeling that I reached the milestone a little faster than before. Of course, "feeling faster" doesn't really mean much, so I wanted to take a closer look at the numbers. After all, that was the whole point of my upgrades in the last post. I merged two of my duplicate Miners, invested heavily in the skill tree and then went back to mining. So the question is pretty simple: Did all those upgrades actually make a difference?
Let's have a look.
A direct comparison
The first thing I wanted to compare was the basic mining performance.
Before the upgrades, I was running six Legendary Miners, producing roughly 0.45 LIMITLESS per minute. Today I'm running only five Legendary Miners. One of the original six was merged and upgraded. The five remaining Miners are currently producing around 0.43 LIMITLESS per minute. So yes, there is a small decrease in the mining rate. But considering that I'm now mining with one Miner less, I'm actually quite happy with the result. Losing one Miner and only dropping from 0.45 to 0.43 LIMITLESS per minute means that the merged Legendary Miner is doing quite a good job of compensating for the missing slot. I'm particularly curious to see what happens once I can add another Legendary Miner to the setup.
The Epic side is a little different. Before the upgrades, I was running six Epic Miners at around 0.29 LIMITLESS per minute. I'm still using six Epic Miners, but one of them has now been merged and upgraded. The result is currently around 0.32 LIMITLESS per minute. So here we actually have a small increase in mining speed. It's not a gigantic change, but it is noticeable – especially because I haven't added another Miner to the setup. And that's only the direct mining rate.
The more interesting comparison comes when we look at the actual net results.
Comparing the old and new setup
After running the upgraded Miners for a while, I finally have enough numbers to make a first comparison with my old setup.
Before the upgrades, my Legendary Miners were producing around 38 LIMITLESS net per run, while the Epic Miners were giving me roughly 13 LIMITLESS net per run. Those numbers were already stable, which gave me a pretty good baseline. After merging one Legendary and one Epic Miner and upgrading my skill tree, the picture has changed. My Legendary runs are now producing around 43.6 LIMITLESS net, while the Epic runs are giving me roughly 15.3 LIMITLESS net.
That's around 5.5 additional LIMITLESS per Legendary run and about 2.2 more per Epic run. In relative terms, that's approximately a 14% increase for the Legendary setup and around 16% for the Epic setup.
And that's where things get interesting.
My Legendary setup is now technically running with one Miner less, while still producing almost the same amount per minute. At the same time, my Epic setup has actually improved. The upgrades therefore seem to be doing what I hoped they would do: making the individual Miners more productive instead of simply adding more Miners.
I'll keep tracking everything and see whether these improvements remain stable over a longer period.
Another 1,000 LIMITLESS – and straight back into upgrades
Now that I've reached another 1,000 LIMITLESS, I'm going to do something that might not surprise anyone who has been following this series. I'm going to invest them again. My current goal is still to maximize my mining output as quickly as possible.
This time, that means merging another Epic Miner.
I'll also continue upgrading the skills on my plots. I want to keep building on the improvements from the last round and see how far I can push the current setup before I start looking at other parts of the game.
And, as always, I'll keep my bookkeeping running alongside it.

That leaves me with 88 LIMITLESS from this round.
So once again, most of my accumulated LIMITLESS is going straight back into improving the mining operation. At this point I'm quite curious to see how far I can push this approach before adding more Miners becomes the more efficient option.
And what about Expeditions?
There is one thing I had actually planned to do after reaching this milestone. Expeditions. In my previous posts I kept saying that I wanted to finally move away from pure mining and take a closer look at them.
Well...
Apparently, LIMITLESS had other plans. The Expeditions are currently under maintenance. So my first proper Expedition experiment will have to wait. I'm hoping the maintenance will be finished soon, and I'm actually quite curious to see what has changed. Maybe this isn't such a bad thing after all. It gives me a little more time to build up my mining setup and collect some more data before I head out into the Expeditions.
So, was it worth it?
That's the question I'm taking away from this round.
So far, the numbers suggest that the upgrades are having a real effect.
My Epic mining rate has increased, my net earnings per run have gone up for both setups, and I'm now generating more LIMITLESS while working with fewer Legendary Miners than before. Based on my current numbers, the same rotation that previously gave me around 102 LIMITLESS per day would now produce roughly 118 LIMITLESS. That's an increase of about 15%. So maybe my feeling wasn't completely wrong after all.
But I'm not done testing yet.
For now, I'll keep doing what I've been doing: mine, upgrade, keep records and compare the results. And hopefully, by the time Expeditions are back, I'll have a nice little mining operation ready to fund my next experiment.
