The goal I set myself at the end of my last post has finally been reached. 1,000 LIMITLESS! Yuhu!
It took me just under a week of mining to get there. Considering that I only recently started getting into LIMITLESS, I'm pretty happy with how quickly that first little milestone came together.
But reaching 1,000 also means that it's time to ask what should I actually do with it?
There are several ways I could improve my account.
- I could buy more mining slots and run more Miners at the same time.
- I could invest in the skill tree and increase my mining efficiency.
- Or I could finally start using the duplicate Miners I have been sitting on and merge them into stronger versions.
I was actually planning to use this point to properly test the Expeditions. But after looking at my options, I decided to postpone that experiment for a little longer. Instead, I'm going to invest my 1,000 LIMITLESS into upgrades, build up another 1,000 and then take a closer look at Expeditions, perhaps 😁
So, let's see where those first 1,000 LIMITLESS went
The duplicate Miners
One of the things I wanted to test from the beginning was the merge function. As I mentioned in my previous post, I had a duplicate Epic Miner. So this was the perfect opportunity to finally put the mechanic to the test. I merged the two Epic Miners and created the improved version.
And since I was already doing it, I went one step further.
I also merged my duplicate Legendary Miner.
This obviously means that I now have one fewer individual Miner available for my legendary mining rotation. But the whole point of the experiment is to find out whether the stronger Miners can compensate for that.
I'm expecting the upgraded Miners to produce better results, but instead of just assuming that the upgrade is worthwhile, I'm going to keep proper records and compare the new results with my old numbers. That should give me a much better idea of whether merging is actually helping my setup.
And that brings us to the next part of my upgrades.
Time to develop the skill tree
I started investing in the skill tree. I upgraded the relevant slots to increase my LIMITLESS mining output. One of the first upgrades gives me an additional 5% LIMITLESS, and the higher I go, the more interesting the question becomes of which Miner should be used in which slot. At the moment I'm concentrating on pushing my LIMITLESS production. Since I don't have other Miner types available to me yet, there isn't much reason for me to spread my upgrades too widely. But I can already see that this could become more interesting later. Once I have a bigger collection of Miners, the question won't simply be "How many Miners do I have?" It will be more about which Miner belongs in which slot and which combination gives me the best result. That's something I'll probably have to experiment with over time.
More mining slots?
Interestingly, I haven't bought another mining slot yet. The reason is quite simple. After merging my duplicate legendary Miner, I now have one fewer Legendary Miner available for my rotation. Buying another slot doesn't help much if I don't have a suitable Miner to put into it.
For the Epic Miners, however, I have a little more flexibility. I can potentially fill additional slots with some of my slower Miners and see whether that makes sense economically.
So for now, I'm holding off on buying another slot. I'd rather first see what effect the merges and skill-tree upgrades actually have on my mining results.
Where did the 1,000 LIMITLESS go?
Once I added everything up, the upgrades came to 970 LIMITLESS.
Here's the breakdown:

That leaves me with only a very small amount from my original 1,000. The upgrades are done. Now I have to see whether they were actually worth it. In my previous post, I established my baseline. I knew roughly what my legendary and epic Miners were producing before the upgrades.
So the next step is pretty straightforward:
Mine. Track. Compare.
I'll run the new setup for a while and put the new numbers next to my old results. Did the merged Miners make a noticeable difference? Did the skill-tree upgrades increase my net income as expected? And was spending almost the entire 1,000 LIMITLESS actually worth it?
That's what I'll be looking at in the next post.
And once I've built up another buffer, I'll finally have to decide whether it's time to leave the mines for a while and head out on some Expeditions.
