It has been far too long since my last Tasteem review and I HAD to snap some pics for you on my latest visit to Abe Erb Brewing Company http://abeerb.com/
As you can see by the url, beer is literally their middle name and I am happy to say they are also clients of mine. Though there are locations we help manage in Kitchener and Ayr Ontario, this visit was to the original Abe Erb location in Waterloo.
I will have to admit, this is what I came in for. In town working around the corner at another client, I had an empty growler I may as well bring home for the fridge and to support a client. Buggy Whip is their strong and Hoppy IPA I have come to love. My buddy at the bar knew I may be persuaded into having a pint while I am there. I went for the Prinz of Darkness - Black IPA for a change. The truth is that I have never had a black IPA that was something I would buy again but that doesn't stop me from trying on on tap when I see it. I will find one that is awesome and taste a whole bunch of new ones while I am at it.
Ooooo this guy is good. He had my resolve wavering with that suggestion and closed the deal by saying, "We have Pork-belly Tacos as the lunch special." I am all in.
Here is a look at the rest of the menu:
If you zoom in, you will se everything from the standard pub grub (Nachos and Wings) to a few vegetarian options, to burgers and even some rather unique stuff (Jambalaya, Schnitzel, Even a Po Boy) and dessert.
While I step away from the beer before I drink it all as my lunch gets delivered, I take a look around. I tend to bustle from ipad to computer to printer and back when I am there and gloss over the fact that the place is awesome. It is a little dark in the photo because of all of the nice wood and subtle retro lighting. They actually brew the beer right here. You can see the catwalk to some of the equipment and the big bar is actually on wheels so you can roll it out of the way when a big brew/kegging day is on tap.
Well that qas quick! A quick chat with management and I return to find the food already delivered. Looks so good, I dive in for a couple bites before remembering to take a review pic! I have been getting good at capturing before eating but I find it funny now, and perhaps it is one of my Tasteem trademarks.
Speaking of trademarks, the dramatic depth of field shot I take to show the close-up grandeur of the meal gets me some funny looks but definitely is one of my trademarks. Make the taco look like a sweeping landscape of taste and not bad for an iPhone photo. People ask if I am a photographer and I tell them I am just a real good hack.
Here is a succinct shot of my meal. A half pint of fresh draft and a taco made with fresh and delicious local ingredients is a perfect snack. I would recommend this to people passing by on the street. Delicious and nutritious!
It is rather tough to capture the nuances of this place from one angle but this pano should put you right in my seat for the experience. What would have made it better is a few more friends not in meetings to share it with!
This will give you the idea of the prices which are not cheap, but you really do get what you pay for. It is also a nice and tidy business write off as I was there for work, and I may as well avoid paying income tax on this great lunch.
