This month, SPUD follows an extra day courtesy of the leap year. Are you ready?

I generally follow the spirit of the law but not necessarily the letter. The letter of the law for the #SPUD movement is to post before actual day to spread the word, and help all the new and old people participate.

As far as I am concerned, #SPUD is a day where the vested and united community of the STEEM blockchain joins forces to power up liquid STEEM, rescue as many as we can from the wilds (crypto exchanges) and stop the powering down. We do this to show our solidarity for the blockchain, lock in our little bits of value, and take our strides towards minnow, redfish, dolphin and orca all together.

It has been an interesting month with shake ups due to the Communities appearing, a huge stake changing hands, a soft fork and now we have a Feb 29th for the first time in 4 years. How do you follow up a great SPUD X? This is a good way.

How do I become involved?

First, I would check out this post by the flagbearer @streetstyle https://steemit.com/spud/@streetstyle/steemians-to-your-steem-power-up-battle-positions-spud-xi-is-incoming-steem-blockchain-community It has some great information I need not replicate but encourage you to consume.

Next, I would convert your SBD into STEEM. I use the Market link found in my wallet https://steemitwallet.com/market and sell all the SBD to buy the STEEM. Then, I would take a little of my BTC and Ethereum stake on exchanges and buy a bit of STEEM now that it has dipped nicely in price seemingly just for us SPUDers. As a bonus action, you can make a SPUD post of your own and contact your network to encourage them to power up, or at least stop a power down if they are selling at this reduced STEEM value.

This is my powerup from last #SPUD and I am looking to dwarf that this month. I don't do it for the prizes at all and can't even recall having taken any in months past. That being said, in the @streetstyle post, there are very rich prizes of STEEM, big delegations and other rewards if growing your stake isn't reward enough.

I have a CRAZY weekend including kids stuff, Jiu Jitsu training, a live MMA event to attend with my training partner, a trip to the big city, a jam with the band in the studio, a hockey game to play right after, and a sprint home in time to play virtual D&D with the guys. Hence, I may be a little tardy with my SPUD but I will be there.
