Artorias peered through the mirror into the newest free world. The magic had begun to seep out of the planet due to some currently unknown cause, and soon enough Artorias would need to step through the space between realms to clean up the mess from the world’s first great calamity.
Time stood still in The Space Between, where all worlds from all times in all existences could be watched by the Fraternis. New worlds constantly bloomed and were relinquished from the control of the Weaver, drifting from the stream of unified space-time. The effects of magic; the one thing that could save the living creatures of the universe. The brotherhood’s job was to ensure these new worlds could function on their own, away from the guidance of the Weaver and their lackeys: subject to the harshness of true free reality.
Free worlds were the target of all manner of inter-planar monsters, keen to feast on the overflowing magic and helpless denizens. Not to mention the natural disasters and new, terrifying creatures created from the untethered inflation of power, now surging across their surface.
Artorias touched his staff to the mirror, and it shimmered like the surface of a puddle. Taking a cautious step forward, he breached its face and crossed over to the fledgling world.
