In my opinion, it is individual choice. Choice may differs from person to person according to is needs, resources, circumstances and different plan. For some people renting home is a good option.
Renting home option is good for people who want to live at a particular place for a short period of time. Buying in this case will increase your headache. It may give you big loss incase if you need to sale your property on urgent basis.
Renting home option give you liberty to change your home any time. You don't need to pay taxes for property and you don't need to spend extra money on repair maintenance of home.
Renting home is suitable for people who are at the start of their career and ready to move any place for the sake of better opportunity. It is a good option for people who don't afford to buy home due to budgetary constraints.
Unfortunately, mortgage facility is not as simple in third world country where high interest rate is a big problem. It is difficult for people to pay high interest rate if you don't afford to buy home with own.
Buying home is a dream for a person who want to settle down his life. You can design your home according to your choice which provide sense of satisfaction. You can change the design of your home any time according to your will. You need not to worry to change the color of paint of house. People who want to stay for a longer period of time at one place prefer to buy home. It ease their life.
