Mafuta means "fat" or "big" and would often be used to describe a big person. It is a nickname that I would hear often. In this case, the former flagship of Namdeb Marine, aka, their biggest vessel in their fleet is called the Mafuta.
I mean former, because now, the largest vessel is the Benguela Gem, which is an additional 7 meters long.
Just recently, the project at the harbor was completed - the SS Nujoma, which is small in comparison to the Mafuta and the Benguela Gem. The Mafuta arrives in the harbour today with access aboard the vessel a good possibility tomorrow.
However, to me a project is a project. Air conditioning is all the same and no matter what the size of the vessel, this one still only has 2x Chillers and 1x Provision hub for its freezers.
This vessel has 6x Air Handling Units (AHUs) compared to the SSN having 3x of them.
My one added concern is that this vessel needs duct cleaning and for that I need to use a sub-contractor and organizing these things are sometimes a bit tricky. There are a lot of hoops to jump through.
This is likely to be another 40-60 days of hard graft ahead of me. Hopefully I can continue to post a lot on Hive regardless of this.
