Good day to all my hive friends and especially the community on Ecency it is a glorious Monday morning with their weather in Cape Town South Africa however I am on my way to work to grind out another 12-hour shift in the.
Please forgive my lack of punctuation or sometimes grammar mistakes as I am busy dictating this post using my voice.
What I wanted to discuss in this short post is the concept of continually posting on hive as a habit. I think that there is a lot of FUD on the marketplace at the moment and this causes a lot of people to become stagnant on hive and not post anything.
For those that are not familiar with the acronym that is fear uncertainty and doubt.
It always seems to come as a surprise to everyone when the market start to crunch down around Christmas time at the end of the year it seems that everyone frees up some of the crypto in order to spend on their holidays and on their Christmas holiday. It is a pattern that I've seen repeated over and over and then when it comes to the new year there are people that bemoaned the fact that they have lost money since they bought at a higher rate and then sold at a lower rate.
But then how does this translate into what people do on hive when it comes to posting? It seems that the norm is that people post left when the market is not doing too well because the rewards appear to be smaller however when the exchange rate with Fiat currency is lower for hive you actually earn more hive.
Despite this bit of knowledge a lot of people are just discouraged when it comes to posting. Another thing that stops people from posting and generally discouraged them from continuing to post on a regular basis is when a couple of their posts do not do too well perhaps you have a certain expectation for how much you should be paid for a certain kind of content and then when you do not own the kind of reward that you were looking for you stop posting.
I believe that this behaviour to be an error in judgement because there is nothing on hive that dictates what you should be paid for any kind of content.
It is a fact that sometimes you will spend more time on a post to make it just right and then receive very little reward whereas at other times you might spend less time on the post and receive a much higher reward there is no real sliding scale for effort vs time and attention you need to have the right people vote on your post and possibly Curate your post and this does not mean that sometimes they will recognise the post that you spent lots and lots of time on doing.
This is not the fault of the curators as they simply have such a mammoth task of looking at good content on hive and then hitting that curation so that the curation trail activates and good content is supported on hive. Even as individuals if we look at content that we like on hive do we really go out and look for something that has had a lot of effort put into it?
Probably not it is more likely that you looked at the Post because of two things.
The cover image and title.
The author of the post.
This would mean to say that if the content being posted does not interest you because of the title and because of the image that gives you an idea of what is inside the post or if the post was not necessarily written by somebody that you recognise and would like to follow up on you are unlikely to spend your time even opening a post reading through the content and giving it a like or any kind of time and attention.
There is no guarantee that this post that I am busy writing using text-to-speech a rather laborious and tricky thing to do will get any sort of attention on hive or anything beyond 405 boats which is hilarious because I said vote not boat!
I am just going to leave that blooper there because it is hilarious I actually probably don't have time this morning to even look at all the typos that this voice-to-text nonsense will do so I will leave you to read my spaghetti of words and have a good chuckle at my expense.
Getting back to the subject matter at hand the point is that if you do not post there is a zero chance of any rewards whereas if you do post there's more certainly some chance of some sort of reward of course it might be foolish to put too much effort into every single post unless of course it means something to you you see some people do post to earn rewards and other people post because they want to present some sort of idea or out to the community then it does not matter all the time whether or not the post makes a curation but rather that it was presented correctly because it is your content and because you enjoy your content I think that this is more important than always aiming to earn.
Another idea that I would like to share is that it is important to try and make five relevant to our lives and not to make our lives relevant to hive hive is there as a platform on the web three space which enables us to interact with one another and to receive rewards based upon our time and attention we should not be using it as a platform to confirm our actions outside of Hive but rather as an extension of our daily living because we are individuals in a decentralized space and not a bunch of soldiers.
