For me, I did not mind because I believe that an MPhil in English would help me to improve myself in my research, writing and critical thinking skills. But the question that remains is, does it make sense for you in your career goals. It is a good option for those who wish to pursue PhD or research, content writing, or teaching. If you're interested in something else, you may need to look into other career paths that are more suited to your interests.

Specialized in Linguistics and did not choose Literature. I selected it because I felt that it was more interesting in the aspects such as discourse analysis, stylistics and corpus linguistics. Linguistics is a good choice for those who like to study language and do research. Literature may be more your style if you are a fan of novels, poetry and literary criticism.
