Hello! to all members of the Splinterlands community. I'm @zactian. I'll write about my strategy and another weekly challenge, Battle Mage Secrets, in my blog today.
What Account Use
I'm using ZACTIAN. I'll share my main strategy in this straightforward but efficient likelihood of winning rule-set max-level cards in a modern format.
Keep Your Distance is the challenge, Only Range and Magic are usable in this battle. A good strategy for Range and Magic line up with useful abilities and prioritizing in speed or in damage for high chance of winning in the battle.
Share your thoughts on the possible lineups at this level in the comments section below. Does it work with this set of battle rules? Let's examine and compare with the set of Keep Your Distance rule set.
Keep Your Distance
Only range and magic units are usable in this battle or melee units are not usable in this battle.
INTO THE BATTLE:
Rule Set
Keep Your Distance
- Melee units are not usable in this battle.
Equalizer
- The initial health of all units is equal to that of the unit on either team.
Recommended summoner to use Holy Protection for this match:
Fire and Death are inactive in this battle since the Dragon element is active and is best for speed compared to only Life and Water. I can't quite predict if the opponent will prioritize using magic or range attacks so I chose Quix the Devious in this battle so that I can use Chaos Dragon and combine elements with Water because most of these elements are best for speed.
I would plan to use Baakjira as a tank and I'll deploy both range and magic. Wave Brood is also my plan as it has the best tank for both range and magic because of its useful abilities.
Note: I only have limited cards but they are useful in some rule sets and I will try my best to win with existing cards. So if you want a high chance of winning, I advise you to rent or buy useful or stronger cards for most rule sets.

My Lineup
First position - Baakjira
- Baakjira is used in this battle because of Heal and Void which is good for tanking in first position. Has support abilities that can buff with Strengthen Ability and Debuff for Slow Ability.
Second position - Wave Brood
- Taunting that opponent range and magic units to attack this unit first, except in the opponent's first position. The best tank for range and magic because of Void and Return Fire abilities.
Third position - Chaos Dragon
- My main magic damage of my team with 4 magic damage and Blasts ability that can deal 2 damages on its opponent adjacent when it hits. And can do support ability because of Blind which is helpful for a chance to miss incoming attacks from the opponent.
Fourth position - Runemancer Kye
- The second main magic damage of my team is with 4 magic damage and can deal double damage when the opponent uses the Taunt ability. It can also increase health by 2 each time it attacks and hits the opponent.
Fifth position - Sea Stalker
- The main range damage of my team with 5 range damage and can hide from opponent attacks because of Camouflage ability, except if the opponent uses Scattershot or Blasts. Can also act as a support unit because of Cleanse for removing negative effects to my first unit and the best combo of Return Fire ability from my Wave Brood because of Amplify Ability.
Last position - Angelic Mandarin
- My support range unit of my team because of debuffing opponent magic damage by 1 and with Triage ability it can heal my Wave Brood per round.
Analyzing Battle
The lineup positioning of my units is a bit messy, I should have put Runemancer Kye in 3rd position, Chaos Dragon in 4th position, also Sea Stalker in the last position, and Angelic Mandarin in 5th position. I hope my first position won't execute easily as I have useful and support abilities to help my Baakjira. The opposing team uses also Quix the Devious and has 2 resurrect abilities which are Oshuur Constantia and Adelade Brightwing. The opponent seems to use lots of healing abilities to Void Dragon and it focuses on Magic Damage. I think I'm gonna win this battle because I have 2 void abilities ready to counter magic damage and healing abilities. Let's see in the battle because it uses Martyr Ability and would boost by 3 to its adjacent especially Chaos Dragon and Void Dragon if it is executed 3 times because of the resurrect ability.
Effective or not?
As expected the opponent Iziar was easily executed and gave +3 all stats to Chaos Dragon and Void Dragon.
So many missed attacks because of Void Dragon's speed difference and Flying ability until it reaches round 15 it is then executed. As you can see no units of my team is executed making my strategy work as planned. If the opponent has Fury and Affliction ability then I might one hundred percent lose in this battle, was lucky enough that it has no fury and affliction in this battle. Also, the opponent seems flexing the Gold foil card except for Iziar, and the opponent Chaos Dragon and Adelaide Brightwing are not max-level giving me an advantage in this battle.
My favorite element line-up is the water element, where the majority of the units are fast. If you wish to utilize the water element, please go through a few of my posts, I hope you find them helpful.
Thanks! for supporting me, being here, and coming this far. I'm hoping this can assist you with some of your battles. I suggest using speed to increase your chances of winning battles since it increases your ability to block oncoming strikes and launch first attacks.
You can share thoughts and ideas about what could be possible to use in this Keep Your Distance rule set.
