The Mexican volcano Popocatépetl erupted on Wednesday, projecting a column of water vapor and gas high 1200 meters, visible for miles around.
Incandescent fragments were projected up to 2.5 kilometers.
Under high seismological surveillance, the volcano woke up in 1994 after 70 years of inactivity.
Tens of thousands of people had to be evacuated because of this latest eruption.
At a height of 5425 meters, Popocatépetl is the second highest volcano in the country.
Its name means "The mountain that smokes" in Maya.
