No bastan esos abrazos momentáneos.

¿Te has despedido muchas veces? ¿Cómo lo has afrontado?

Hello, #Hive friend! I'd like you, when you finish reading this post, to comment on the saddest goodbye you've ever had. I haven't really had the big "goodbye", but I have had times when I have to say goodbye, close one page and open another, and I've found it difficult. I have had a few days marked by "goodbyes" and they leave a mark that "fucks" your soul.

A week ago, someone who has taught me so much on the radio, decided to leave this country, like so many others who are looking for a better future. Emigration becomes explosive atomic explosives for the spirit of any Cuban who stays behind. Those momentary hugs are not enough.

Usually, friends who leave tell you at the last moment, while they have been silently preparing backpacks with memories inside, full of courage in their pockets and sadness in each handle. Some prefer to write when they are already far away, to prevent the eyes of those who remain from watering. I have had to say goodbye several times and that marks you.

Since September, I started teaching at the IPVCE "Federico Engels", a place to which I owe much of my training. The need for teachers was so great, because most of them have also said goodbye (left), that I felt the need to "lend a hand" and enjoy the teaching process, one of my professions.

That's when you start leading the teaching of language and literature to 15 year old students who will graduate as high school graduates. I started with 2 groups, number 10 and 6. The latter group gathers the most advanced students of the tenth grade. It is known as the "contest group".

In the classroom, you find those who have the most intense preparation to compete at the national level in subjects such as Mathematics, History, Spanish, Chemistry, Biology, English, Physics, among others. These are kids who challenge your preparation as a teacher, something I like because it takes me out of my comfort zone.

Yesterday, suddenly, the directors told me that I could not continue to be their teacher, because later on their teaching process will change and the school needs those who teach them to be able to be with them for a full day, which would be very difficult for me because of my work at the University. Other colleagues of mine who worked in the group had to leave as well, which has repercussions on the students and teachers, because a style of work was already established and suddenly changes.

It was the moment of telling them that we could not continue together that marked me the most and the lump in my throat tightens when you see the expressions of doubt on their faces, their anguish about the change and the imploring for everything to continue as it was. Ultimately, it was the last class with them. Many plans made could no longer continue.

I worked with them on the content. The nominal syntagm and the classification of the sentence by the number of members, was the explanation that put the farewell at rest for more than an hour, until at the end, when it was time to leave, I read them the text EL MUNDO, by Eduardo Galeano, comparing it with what I had found in the classroom.

Then they gave me a sheet of paper with multiple messages. I did not read it that day, until I faced the reading with courage and wanted to bring the experience to Hive. I have been showing you the pictures. I don't know how another professional who takes care of the public goes through the process of saying goodbye. For example, I think ours is the best, because you know that they will go on and on the street they will always greet you.

Health professionals must feel very hard to say goodbye to a sick patient who is leaving life. I am not prepared for this one; that is why, instead of curing bodies, I prefer to cure souls. Have you said goodbye many times? How have you dealt with it? The link to this post will be with my former students. I told them about Hive.
