Prambanan Temple is a world heritage site located in Prambanan village, exactly between Sleman Yogyakarta and Klaten, Central Java.
Cultural heritage site built in the 9th century AD is the largest Hindu temple in Indonesia and also the largest in Southeast Asia.
Prambanan temple architecture refers to Hindu architecture.
Prambanan temple has a height of 47 meters, and also the name in every level, as quoted from Wikipedia:
- Bhurloka (in Buddhism: Kamadhatu), is the lowest realm of mortal creatures; humans, animals, also spirits and demons. In this realm humans are still bound by passions, desires, and unholy lifestyles. The outer pages and the foot of the temple symbolize the realm of bhurloka.
- Bwahloka (in Buddhism: Rupadhatu), is a tranquil nature, a place of saints, rishis, hermits, and inferior gods. In this nature man begins to see the light of truth. The central courtyard and the body of the temple symbolizes the realm of bwahloka.
- Swahloka (in Buddhism: Arupadhatu), is the highest and holiest domain in which the gods reside, also called swargaloka. The inner courtyard and the roof of the temple symbolize the swahloka realm. The roof of the temples in Prambanan complex is decorated with mastaka peak of ratna (Sanskrit: gem), ratnaPrambanan form is a modification of wajra form symbolizing diamond or lightning. In ancient Javanese Hindu architecture, Ratna is a Hindu counterpart to the Buddhist stupa, which functions as the summit or mastaka of the temple.
Prambanan people call Prambanan temple as a can in Roro Jonggrang.
This right is due to a legend story that has been told for generations. Roro Jonggrang legend itself tells of a beautiful woman named Roro Jonggrang, following a glimpse of legend Roro Jonggrang:
The legend tells a prince named Bandung Bondowoso who fell in love with a princess named Rara Jongrang. Because the princess is powerless to reject her love then the princess put forward a condition that must be fulfilled Bandung Bondowoso is making the temple with the number of 1,000 statues overnight. Roro Jongrang request was agreed and almost fulfilled one night until finally Roro Jongrang asked the villagers to help pound rice in order to memacing the rooster to crow that day is morning. But Bandung Bondowoso know that rigged that at that time had completed 999 statues, which further cursed Roro Jongrang become the statue to the 1000.
In 1991 by UNESCO, Prambanan Temple was designated as a cultural heritage of world heritage that must be preserved.
