Hi guys! Today I'll be talking about class boundaries. I'll be discussing based on my opinion and experience, class boundary in Steemit in relation to prominent social media.

What is class boundary?
What do I mean when I say "class boundary"? Well first of all, I want all of you reading this to take your mind back to when you all never knew about Steemit. You probably spent the most of your time on intsagram facebook and Twitter. Notice first that you where able to connect with many persons you probably never new, good and fine. But did you notice that there are just some persons that you already know would never like your post or even see your post or even reply a private message. Yes now you are getting me I hope. That what I'm saying. The class boundary. You don't talk to them, you can't interact with them, all you can do is view their endless arrays of info and pictures of themselves and families. Most often if you comment, it goes unnoticed.
I remembered when I was a very very big Adam Lambert fan just because of his vocal prowess. I thought to myself with the will of hope " why don't I ask him via Instagram Direct message to give me a tip or two on his singing ?" Well that I did and till now I've got no reply. The truth is, these persons are not being wicked or too egotistic or too puffed up with pride to answer or give attention, no! Instead it is the world or class that their successes and hard work or their background has created for them. Firstly they have more people to attend to and so its better you stick to attending to the more "near you" ones or the ones that are deemed more important to attend to and them, snap! You have just been deemed less important and left out. So from this, it is clear that this is a case of what I call a social class boundary where there is a line drawn around those you would mostly be prone to communicating and socializing with, most times in your class.
Does not Steemit also have Class boundaries?
Well my reputation as at the point of writing this article, is 50. I have been on Steemit for about two months now or more. I have come to see that the answer to the question above is a very gigantic yes. Now this is where the controversy might come in. The terms whale, dolphins and minnows are no just ordinary words my brothers and sisters. They represent facts more than just the user's Steem power. Let's really look at it from this angle. If you are a minnow, you have a low SP, and most probably because of that, you won't be able to attract as much followers as the Whales and dolphins do. You would depend on dolphins and whales to give you value for your contributions. You would be more inclined to post things that would seem to attract value from the big guns than posting things that probably would have interested you or other minnows. You might even be continually posting one particular type of article for a particular tag just for the curating by one particular whale or dolphin. While the whales can just post something and all their fellow whale and dolphin friends upvote it. They can even single handedly make their posts more valuable than yours by just their own curation.

So how is Steemit any different?
As much as there is a fine line that is drawn physically between the whales and dolphins and minnows, there is in fact no line at all when we talk in the sense of socializing. Those terms whales, dolphin, minnows, are in deed just physically characterising words on Steemit.
When I joined Steemit, I joined the open mic too and My entry was commended by @Luzcypher who has a rep of 72. The thing is, he comments in all the open mic entries for the week and listens to them. Entries reaching over 300 in a week. I had a problem one of the week and I sent him a message on discord and to my greatest surprise, he replied and even thanked me for speaking out. The open mic judges include dolphins too. These ones can just judge for the the contest and them bam! That's the end. Instead they take time to give meaningful comments on the posts of these younglings on Steemit.
I have chatted with two whales and some few other dolphins and minnows although it usually takes time for many of them to reply, the fact that they reply and are able to socialise with me and give out important information on helping me making it and growing up to be like they are here on Steemit is mind blowing judging by their class. They have many people banging on their private messages and so they take time to reply, that is because of their class my friend. Yet still they try as much as humanly possible to upvote and comment meaningfully on posts of different kinds and from different Steemit users of different class and reply and socialise on media that brings steemians together. So its clear that class on Steemit is only a physical thing representing your achievements and successes on Steemit and not a factor for socializing. As my Oga, @surpassinggoogle would say, "you are a whale to me" having great assurance in my future on steemit that he obviously cares about.
