Hi folks and welcome to Rapture
Today we are looking back at a classic game in an unforgettable series
Bioshock the creepy atmospheric horror and action shooter game that was an amazing entry into what became a really good trilogy of games.
Released August 2007 I remember getting this shortly after release and being quite scared playing it in parts. The game lulls you in and makes you think all is well, then bam you get jumped by some crazy hook wielding dudes that aren't too friendly.
Bioshock has you traveling to Rapture, an underwater city built in the 1940's. You arrive in 1960, to a rather untidy and not fresh looking Rapture.
Rapture was created by Andrew Ryan, who you have been sent to kill.
While exploring Rapture you get to meet some fun characters and some weird as crazies.
DNA splicing is a big part of the game, allowing you to turn your body into a weapon. Shooting out flames and lightning is 2 of the interesting uses of this splicing.
The environment can be used in numerous ways, electrocuting people or setting fire to stuff.
The game really brought a vast array of fun stuff to do.
The most creepy part for me was the Little Sisters that you meet. You are given an interesting choice of whether to save them or kill them. They are really creepy and always have a giant Big daddy with them. They are basically a mutated human in a huge armored diving suit. They are not overly friendly at all!
Year of release: 2007
Developer: 2K
Genre: Horror, Shooter, Action
Rating out of 10: Easily an 11/10
Why you should play it: If you want a good story line, good action with a little added creepiness, then this is the game for you
They did release a remastered edition in 2016 which was a nice upgrade. The graphical updates still hold the test of time and I really can recommend this as a game to play.
