The House of the Link and Return / La Casa del Vínculo y el Retorno

When one travels to a city, whatever it is, it is important to visit it, live it and enjoy it to the fullest, before I did not share this notion, but thank God I have been able to return to Caracas to reconnect with it, walk its streets and discover those little corners that make the difference. 400 years of history do not pass in vain, through so much time stories, places and facts that endure through generations have been built, becoming an invaluable legacy of a common past.

Cuando uno viaja a una ciudad cualquiera que sea, es importante recorrerla, vivirla y disfrutarla al máximo, antes no compartía esta noción, pero gracias a Dios he podido volver a Caracas para reconectarme con ella, caminar sus calles y descubrir esos pequeños rincones que marcan la diferencia. 400 años de historia no pasan en vano, a través de tanto tiempo se han construido historias, lugares y hechos que perduran a través de las generaciones, convirtiéndose en un legado invaluable de un pasado común.

In this way I arrived to the center of Caracas not to run an errand, not to walk without looking to the sides, but to know its corners, details and complexities. Thus I arrived at a small colonial style house, located a few blocks from the Plaza Bolivar, this is the Casa del Vinculo, a space which was inhabited by the Liberator Simon Bolivar and his wife Maria Teresa del Toro, once they joined their lives in marriage, therefore, this is a symbol of true love, deep energies and great humanism.

De esta forma llegué al centro de Caracas no para realizar una diligencia, no a caminar sin mirar a los lados, sino a conocer sus rincones, detalles y complejidades. De esta forma llegué a una pequeña casa de estilo colonial, ubicada a pocas cuadras de la Plaza Bolívar, se trata de la Casa del Vínculo, un espacio el cual fue habitado por el Libertador Simón Bolívar y su esposa María Teresa del Toro, una vez que estos unieron sus vidas en matrimonio, por lo cual, este es un símbolo de amor verdadero, profundas energías y gran humanismo.

Very little remains of the original house, since over the years, the devouring spirit of Caracas demolished more than 90% of the original building, but fortunately thanks to archaeological work, it was possible to recover a small fragment, which is enough to imagine the details and grandeur of that old house, which had numerous arches, stone and terracotta floors, large windows and high halls.

De la casa original queda bastante poco, ya que con el pasar de los años, el espíritu devorador de Caracas demolió más del 90% del inmueble original, pero afortunadamente gracias a trabajos arqueológicos, se logró recuperar un pequeño fragmento, el cual resulta suficiente imaginarnos los detalles y la grandeza de aquella vieja casona, la cual contaba con numerosos arcos, pisos de piedra y terracota, grandes ventanales y salones altos.

To enter here is to live a unique experience, in part of the house we walk on the original floor, in other places an elevated walkway allows us to walk through the places without intervening in a negative way, at the same time a great amount of infographics, the gloves writing as in a timeline everything that happened in that place. It is impressive how, despite the fact that the original structure was so violently intervened, invaluable elements could still be found, which constitutes a unique historical record, which today more than ever should be preserved for future generations.

Entrar acá es vivir una experiencia única, en parte de la casa se camina sobre el piso original, en otros lugares una caminería elevada nos permite recorrer los lugares sin intervenir de manera negativa, al mismo tiempo gran cantidad de infografías, los guantes escribiendo como en una línea de tiempo todo lo transcurrido en aquel recinto. Es impresionante como, a pesar de que la estructura original fue intervenida tan violentamente, aún se pudieron encontrar elementos invaluables, lo cual constituye un registro histórico único, que hoy más que nunca debe ser preservado para las futuras generaciones.

Discovering these historical places is a great joy for me, as it is a very close and real look at what for many years we only observed through the pages of history books. Caracas is a city in whose heart we will find many elements of great importance for the nation and the world, but there is no doubt that this house is a truly unique space, because here is one of the few places where we are not observing Simon Bolivar as a military, warrior or liberator, but as an ordinary human being, your name in love, who dreamed of spending his days in the tranquility of a cozy and comfortable house.

Descubrir estos lugares históricos para mí reviste una enorme alegría, la que se trata de una mirada muy cercana y real de aquello que por muchos años solo observamos a través de las hojas de los libros de historia. Caracas es una ciudad en cuyo corazón encontraremos numerosos elementos de gran importancia para la nación y el mundo, pero no cabe la menor duda de que esta casa es un espacio realmente único, ya que aquí es uno de los pocos lugares en donde no estamos observando al Simón Bolívar como militar, guerrero o libertador, sino como un humano común y corriente, tu nombre enamorado, que soñaba con pasar sus días en la tranquilidad de una casa acogedora y cómoda.

Going out as a tourist is incredible, it is an experience that I could not live before, but now I am willing to repeat it every time I can, because there is nothing better than knowing our identity, live our earthly existence to the fullest and enjoy the goodness and secrets that are hidden in our immediate environment.

Salir en plan de turista es increíble, es una experiencia que antes no pude vivir, pero que ahora estoy dispuesto a repetirla cada vez que se pueda, ya que no existe nada mejor que conocer nuestra identidad, vivirá plenitud nuestra existencia terrenal y disfrutar de las bondades y secretos que se esconden en nuestro entorno más cercano.
