With the advancement of new technologies, artificial intelligence, and the complete digitization of educational processes, practices that defined us for generations have gradually fallen by the wayside. Now, when it comes to presenting a project, everything seems to be displayed on a bright screen, and the days when we used to draw on large flip charts by hand seem like a thing of the past.

But with the restart of my college classes, the professor for this new semester wants us to reconnect with our roots, develop our creativity, and make the most of our skills. This is why everything is done freehand, using pencils, colored pencils, and markers, to capture ideas and convey the necessary information in each of our presentations.
That’s how I ended up creating a large poster on the principles of education, and for that, I decided to use the mixed-media map technique—that is, a large poster supported by drawings and some headings that guide the entire explanation of the topic at hand.
At first it seems simple, but when you haven’t picked up a pencil in years, it becomes a real challenge. Yet it’s one of those activities where you discover that knowledge is acquired more effectively; with greater effort and better concentration, our minds seem to become much more active, absorbing every detail and working at full speed.
I must confess that at first I felt a little bored, but after the colors began to work their magic, I was filled with satisfaction knowing that this is an activity that will benefit me in the future. As a student of Early Childhood Education, it is essential to have the necessary skills to one day be able to convey knowledge to the young children who will be in front of me in a classroom.
This is how I successfully completed a presentation on the principles of education; this is where we encompass constitutional rights, cultural diversity, participatory democracy, community, and family. We might think that these topics have nothing in common, but within the school environment, they become the fundamental pillars upon which true knowledge, national identity, and a prosperous and bright future are built.
