Why do I think this is? Let me explain.
Steem Price Changes
The 50% Steem Power reward you earn on posts is equal to the amount of Steem that can be bought with 50% of the posts value in USD. So more simply, a $50 post gives you $25 USD worth of SP.
Right now Steem is worth about $5 each, but what if (hypothetically) it becomes worth $50 in the future as users increase? The amount of Steem you would get in a post would decrease right?
A $50 post ($50 after curation) would garner $25 USD worth of Steem Power, so about 0.5 SP.
If it was posted today, it would receive about 5 SP (when Steem = $5 USD).
So 10x the SP if it's posted today!
SBD Price Changes
Currently, SBD is worth about $5. Although it was intended to be pegged to a dollar, its price is currently loosely following Steem's. Whether its price continues to follow Steem is unknown.
It could potentially be re-pegged to a dollar, or post payouts could be changed to give you an amount of SBD depending on its current price, or nothing could be changed.
In a $50 post, payouts would be:
- 25 SBD ($25 USD) (if re-pegged to a dollar)
- 5 SBD ($25 USD) (if payouts depend on current price and current price = $5)
- 25 SBD ($125 USD) (now)
So you will be receiving more liquid value now if changes to SBD occur in the future.
You will have more time to grow your account
Like the old proverb says, the best time to plant a tree is 100 years ago. The second best time is today.
If you started posting regularly a year ago, your account would surely be larger today. If you start posting regularly today, your account will surely be larger in a year.
But besides all of the money talk... social media is supposed to be a fun place to hang out with others, so make sure to have a fun time :)
