Hive Open Mic Week #222 | Be Still, My Soul - Jean Sibelius (Cover) by @yisusth [ENG/SPA]

A cordial greeting to all. Once again I am happy to share with you in the Hive Open Mic Week #222 where we explore the theme: "Peace", chosen by a friend and recent featured artist of our community: @fab-tay. I am pleased to share my trumpet performance of “Be Still, My Soul”, a hymn whose melody comes from a patriotic orchestral work by Jean Sibelius called “Finlandia,” composed in 1899. He adapts the melody with a text from the hymnal written by Katharina von Schlegel and translated by Catherine Winkworth. The tempo is moderate and has a majestic and reflective character. The harmony is mainly tonal, with airs of great serenity and others of harmonic tension. The lyrics talk about finding peace and strength in faith. The serenity and reflection of the music accompany the message of comfort and trust. I have had the opportunity to sing it at a choral level, and it is a hymn that is part of the repertoire of the church where I congregate.

Un cordial saludo para todos. Una vez más me siento feliz de compartir con ustedes en el Hive Open Mic Semana #222 donde exploramos la temática: "Paz", elegida por el amigo y reciente artista destacado de nuestra comunidad: @fab-tay. Tengo el agrado de compartir mi interpretación con la trompeta «Be Still, My Soul», un himno cuya melodía proviene de una obra orquestal patriótica de Jean Sibelius llamada "Finlandia", compuesta en 1899. Este adapta la melodía con un texto del himnario escrito por Katharina von Schlegel y traducido por Catherine Winkworth. El tempo es moderato y tiene un carácter majestuoso y reflexivo. La armonía es principalmente tonal, con aires de gran serenidad y otros de tensión armónica. La letra habla de encontrar paz y fortaleza en la fe. La serenidad y la reflexión de la música acompañan el mensaje de consuelo y confianza. He tenido la oportunidad de cantarla a nivel coral, y es un himno que es parte del repertorio de la iglesia donde me congrego.

Music is a vehicle that promotes peace. I am pleased that through music we can promote peace. This theme reminds me of the words of the Lord Jesus Christ about being peacemakers. (Matthew 5:9) Peace begins with oneself. One must seek personal peace and strive to preserve it after finding it. I am moved by the suffering of those who suffer because of war, especially children. I have cried at times when I saw the news of his suffering. The solution is not to stoke the fire or be partial to one side, but to do everything possible to encourage peace. Peace begins at home; Parents must sow peace in their children's hearts. Thanks to the teaching of my parents, my brothers and I have never had conflicts that we cannot resolve. I remember that once my mother tied us with some sheets while we were hugging and she didn't let us go until we forgave each other. It was a drastic method, but it worked. May peace be with you. La música es un vehículo promotor de la paz. Me alegra mucho que a través de la música podamos promover la paz. Esta temática me hace recordar las palabras del Señor Jesucristo sobre ser pacificadores. (Mateo 5:9) La paz comienza por uno mismo. Uno debe buscar la paz personal, y luego de encontrarla, esforzarse por preservarla. Me conmueve el sufrimiento de aquellas personas que padecen a causa de la guerra, en especial de los niños. He llorado en ocasiones al ver las noticias de su sufrimiento. La solución no es atizar el fuego o parcializarse a un bando, sino hacer lo posible por incentivar la paz. La paz comienza desde el hogar; los padres deben sembrar la paz en el corazón de los hijos. Gracias a la enseñanza de mis padres, mis hermanos y yo nunca hemos tenido conflictos que no podamos resolver. Recuerdo que una vez mi madre nos amarró con unas sabanas estando abrazados y no nos soltó hasta que nos perdonáramos. Fue un método drástico, pero funcionó. Que la paz sea con ustedes.
