How much was the meal?

When people used silver as a medium of exchange it was common for diners to sell a meal for a two bit coin.

A bit is an eighth of a silver dollar. Two bits is a quarter. Silver dollars used to be smaller than an ounce. Currently people standardize on an ounce.

Kitco says the price of an ounce of silver is $23.17. So the price of a meal at a two bit diner should be: $5.8675 .
