The people who want passive income from debt seem to have ways of creating it.

The merchants of debt love to push debt onto collectives. For example, the political elite might offer a bond to upgrade a local school.

The bond drive fails to mention that the debt will funnel more money into the financiers of the debt than into the schools.

I wonder what would happen if everyone started paying off debt?

The drive for debt doesn't simply come from the borrowers. It comes from the people seeking to lend money.

Again, I point to HIVE. The HIVE-O-Sphere does not need to borrow $11 dollars. The drive for the debt on HIVE comes entirely from people who want to get interest on their HBD.

HIVE shows a unique case where the debt we are incurring is driven entirely by the desire of a few rich investors who want a guaranteed 20% profit on a loan.

The merchants of debt are skilled. They will find a way to push people into debt ... no matter how much harm the debt does to the society.
