I agree that partisanship is a huge problem.

Your statement however shows complete ignorance of political movements.

The GOP is a group that supports Constitutionally limited government. It is a group that wants smaller federal government.

The GOP was started by Lincoln to oppose the expansion of slavery favored by the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party was so married to the institution of slavery that they responded to the election of Lincoln by declaring a Civil War.

The GOP is still primarily the Party of Lincoln. Its main issue is limited government. The GOP favors market based solutions for problems over government solutions. The GOP traditionally favors local control over national control.

The idea is that the Federal Government should only deal with a small select set of issues. The Federal government should control immigration. Local communities should work on the important issues like education.

There is, however, a Party and ideology that has me concerned. The Conservative Party was founded by the youngest son of King George III to rebrand the Tory Party.

The International Conservative movement has been at the heart of many of the worst political action on the world stage for the last few centuries.

Unfortunately, people in the United States have the term "Conservatism" confused with the traditional ideals of the Grand Ole Party. There is the danger that the GOP is moving in the direction of the Conservative Party.

Most members of the GOP lean Libertarian.
