Welcome to the HIVE blockchain.

A blockchain is a decentralized database running on the Internet.

There are several hundred web sites that interface with the HIVE blockchain. D.Buzz is a fun interface that emphasizes short form posts. Some of the interfaces are optimized for longer form posts; so you may not receive many upvotes for a post with a single photo.

The best way to start an account is to write a post with the tag: #introduceyourself. The ideal intro post has couple photos and several paragraphs about your interests or what you want to do on HIVE.

The system will reward posts with HIVE which is a popular cryptocurrency. HIVE has a side chain called Hive Engine. HIVE Engine lists some alt-tokens. Some tags will give rewards for the secondary tokens.

For example, your post has a photo. If you used the tag #photography; you would receive the PHOTO reward.

There are some comment rewards. I have 20 PIZZA. I will end the post with the tag !PIZZA which should deposit a slice of PIZZA into your account.

Most tags require that you own a certain number of coins before using the tag. You can use the tag HBIT once a day to experiment with comment tags.

I wish you the best of luck on the platform.
