The Smithsonian says that Hero of Alexandria had invented a vending machine for Holy Water in the first century AD.

I am not sure what the term "fully automated" means. ThoughtCo says the first fully automated vending machine appeared in the 1800s to sell stamp.

Perhaps the term "fully automated" refers to electric machines.
