Welcome to HIVE.

HIVE is a social media platform built on a blockchain. A blockchain is an open database. Developers have created numerous interfaces and dApps which connect to HIVE. A distributed App is a program for interfacing with HIVE. Ecency is a good example of a dApp.

The term "tribe" refers to a web site that provides additional coins. For example CreativeCoin is a tribe that supplements HIVE rewards with the venerable CCC coin. In theory the coin is for posts with creative content like illustrations or music.

I made a list of HIVE Tribes. You can trade the Alt-Coins on HIVE Engine. I will give you a !BEER . A user needs 24 BEER coins to be able to give the BEER award. There are several rewards like this.

NOTE: New users can give the HBIT coin if you end the post with a ! followed by the word HBIT .

Waivio is an advanced interface for HIVE.

I am writing this post with PeakD which was one of the first and most powerful alternative interfaces for HIVE.

LikeTu is an interface that focuses on photos.

Hey, you know there are a lot of games that interface with the HIVE blockchain as well.

Anyway, Hive.blog was designed as a sample interface. You might check out the different interfaces to find the one you like best.

The tribes are great if you want to concentrate on a given subject. Eg. LeoFinance is all about crypto. STEMgeek is about Science Tech and Math.

Since Hive.blog was created as an example interface it is unlike to change.
