my videos are shot in 4k but they're scaled into 1080 or sometimes to 2k, none of my videos on youtube is 4k. To explain better, if you record shakily 4k and your video resolution is 4k you can't zoom in or stabilize cos it would crop your maximum resolution, also good luck trying to edit videos in 4k it requires graph cards of 1000 dollars and above not to make a normal pc burn :/. I'd say for vlogging 1080 is fine, and for music videos record your fancy shots at 4k then reescale them into 1080 when editing, that way you can always crop, zoom, pan and move around your extra edges.
