It may not be one of the best-known destinations in Asturias, but without a doubt the Somiedo Natural Park is a wonderful place, a true jewel that, for the moment, remains protected between mountains.
This Biosphere Reserve hides cabins that have been there for hundreds of years. And one of its main characteristics is that it is a place that is far from large centers, something that has undoubtedly contributed to the conservation of the flora and fauna of its ecosystems. And, of course, to the architectural and cultural heritage that its villages preserve.
Pola de Somiedo is the capital of the council, and is a beautiful place that is worth visiting, even if only briefly. In the middle of the town we can find the Park's Nature Reception and Interpretation Center and the Ecomuseum.
Inside, there are interesting exhibitions about the traditions and way of life of Somiedo. Furthermore, walking a little further, it is worth visiting the church of San Pedro, which dates back to the 18th century.
A place where nature (with forests where grouse and brown bears coexist) coexists with a past rich in traditions.
