Hello friends of the Freecompliments community! How are you spending this Saturday in mid-November? Today I wanted to talk to you about an athlete that I'm sure most of you don't know but his story is really interesting and inspiring. This is Karoly Takacs
Karoly Takacs was born January 21, 1910 in the capital of Hungary, Budapest. He showed great shooting ability during his military career. He wanted to participate in the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin but he did not have sufficient military rank to be able to do so. So he followed his career to advance and be able to participate in the 1940 Olympics.
Unfortunately for Karoly he suffered an accident in which a hand grenade exploded in his right hand, the hand he used to shoot. But his love for this discipline was such that he did not give up and began training with his left hand. Unfortunately for him, the 1940 and 1944 Olympic Games were suspended due to the Second World War. However, when it was all over Karoly managed to qualify for the London games in 1948.
Karoly Takacs not only won the Olympic medal in London but she did so by breaking the world record in the discipline. 4 years later he would repeat the feat in Helsinki. In his sports career he won many medals and was coach of the national team of his country.
Karoly Takacs showed us all that his accident could not stop his desire to compete.
