Ambition the driving force of a champion “Sports Saturdays”
Hello friends of the Freecompliments community! Cold Saturday of December and we already have the holidays just around the corner. Today I wanted to talk to you about a sports legend known by almost everyone, Eddy Merckx.
Eddy Merckx is a cycling legend, one of the greatest of this sport. Born in Belgium on June 17, 1945, he started cycling at a very young age when he was just 8 years old. In Belgium, cycling is a main sport followed by millions of people. The topography of the country makes it very easy to get around by bicycle.
Eddy stood out from the beginning and in 1964 he won the amateur world championship. Shortly afterward he became a professional cyclist. And his career was marked by his winning character and an ambition worthy of praise. Such was this ambition that he was nicknamed El Canibal.
Eddy was a very complete cyclist who excelled in all cycling disciplines. He was a great climber, he did fantastic time trials and he was very fast in his finishes.
But the main characteristic of him and what differentiated him from other cyclists with his own talent was his ambition. Eddy always wanted to win, against anyone and anywhere. That is why he is the most successful cyclist with 525 victories. Among the most notable are 5 Tours of France and 5 Giros de Italia.
What Eddy Merckx teaches us is that to respect your rivals and yourself you must give everything at all times in search of victory.
