LIGHT OF THE WORLD
I Peter 2:9
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
God must have a very good reason for blessing us above all the people of the earth. He always distinguishes Himself as above all other gods of the earth. He is the God who possesses all the riches and resources of the earth. He controls them and decides on their distribution in the earth. Everyone knows Him as the great God; so His children cannot live on earth like paupers and weaklings.
This is also the reason He causes His presence to go before us and with us wherever we go. For as long as we bear His name, God makes sure that His manifold blessings follow us. This is our uniqueness; and this is what sets us apart unto Him
The way God sees us is clearly depicted in Peter’s writing to the churches – a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation… God takes pride in saying that we are His children through Christ. We are truly blessed and highly favored.
The least we can do is to show that we are truly His children, not conforming to the elements of this world, to the point that often there is no difference between the Christian and the non-Christian. When we live contrary to His expectations, we give the world the audacity to question our God. Pause and make a determination in your heart to live according to the declaration God makes concerning us, as we have learned today.
Prayer
Thank God for continuing to declare that we are His children and that He still loves us and believes in us.
Pray for strength to live as a holy citizen of God’s nation, shining your light everywhere you find yourself.
Father, I thank You for continuing to remind me that I am special in Your sight. Help me live in accordance with Your declarations concerning me.
Declarations
I declare today that I am a recognized citizen of the kingdom of God; a royal priest, a holy person, chosen by God. I declare in the name of Jesus that I am in the world, but I do not belong to it. I come out of the world, I separate myself, I do not touch the unclean thing. I declare that I am God’s light in a dark world. Through my life, I will show forth the praises of He who called me out of darkness into His marvelous light; so help me God!
The more of the Word you imbibe, the more of God’s nature you manifest.
