Perhaps our generation is living in an extraordinary time, perhaps we are creating more future jobs everyday then it ever happened in the last century, perhaps we have the most brilliant young minds that history ever had today, with the help of technology and other factors influencing it.
But there is still a lot of things we lack in and as silly as it looks, we are going backwards too.
Backwards in terms that our young generation does not think for themselves anymore, and I understand that the world is dangerous and there is so many traps, but who said the world is supposed to be in peace always? Looking at history, the most advanced technologies came after wars and conflicts, to help solve problems, because that’s what we do, as intelligent beings, humans are in this world to solve problems, but somehow this belief is no longer applicable to youngsters because our guardians are becoming too protective that they don’t let them think for themselves, how else are we supposed to face the world when no one is willing to take the risks and face the consequences alone? Because is too dangerous out there.
Nowadays, I think the proverb that girls grow faster than guys is no longer applicable when you find girls of a certain age, with thoughts of a 3 years younger than her, same applies to guys, and maybe worse, how are we supposed to interact with such people when there is no conversation they might be interested in? When they talk about games and TV, we wish they would be more aware of the world and think on how to solve the world’s biggest issues with the knowledge they have now. And that’s how it becomes discouraging to go on and interact with such minds.
You don’t have to be grown up to think about the world or to even make a change, young girls like Malala and Ishita Katyal, a 10 years old girl who recently had a talk on TED are the future hopes, not because they were born different than any other human being, but because their parents didn’t give them labels. And that’s what parents should understand, we cannot protect our children forever, instead, we need to give them a chance to go out and experience the bad and the worse, so, they, will one day grow up to be the most amazing people on the planet.
