Hello everyone! Here I am again with another Inktober drawing.

The prompt for Inktober Day 13 is 'Flimsy'

I was thinking of the meaning first, because I didn't even know what flimsy is. I researched the word and figured that it means something broken or unstable like a bunch of cards standing on each other. That could have been an interesting drawing but I wanted to draw a broken chair instead. This is the one I can relate to well.

During school we had some broken chairs. Let me mention specifically that the broken legs were usually the back legs. Either one or both of them will be wobbly. The reason is because some of us kids used our school chairs like a rocking chair. I did the same as I saw my friends doing it. It was fun too but our teachers always scolded us and said that breaks the legs. I understood later that it's because it puts all the pressure on the back legs when we do that and that's why they are the ones that break. So that's what I wanted to draw today as it's also a way to reminisce school days.

The Process

I started my drawing with the horizontal pieces of wood that gave the back support when we sit on the chair. I just noticed it looks funny like a equal sign. Anyway, here's a little tip. Always shade the smallest part darkest when you draw blocks of wood or any 3 dimensional shapes. The largest part on the other hand should be in the lightest shade.

Then I drew the vertical pieces of wood on the chair and the flat sitting part as well. I also drew the front legs in their perfect form. They are not damaged so they look straight.

Then I finally added the back legs with are the broken ones. Not totally broken but it is in the process. I also added tiny nails that keep the chair together. I have sat in such chairs during lessons when combined classes were conducted. The chair will be so wobbly that I would worry I might fall in the middle of the class and hold on to the table for my dear life. So that's my drawing for Flimsy Inktober prompt.

This sums up the expression I would wear when I sit on those wobbly chairs. Thank you for dropping by and have a wonderful day ahead. Please don't sit on the back legs like I did.
