Went out late at night just to grab this special halo-halo in our place.
Halo-halo is a popular filipino dessert especially during the summer season. Halo-halo is a mixture of shaved ice and evaporated milk, and variety of mix-ins including banana, red beans, sweetened white beans, jackfruit, mango and any of your choice of fruit and whatnots.
Trivia: Halo-halo or halu-halo owes its origin to a Japanese sweet treat called Kakigori, kakigori is similar to a snow cone that it sweetened with condensed milk, syrup and sweetener. It was modified by the farmers and put mixed ins like red mongo, papaya and kidney beans. Before calling it halo-halo, it was then-called by the Japanese Mongo-ya due to the usage of mongo as one of the ingredients.

To this day, halo-halo is still one of the most loved desserts by filipinos especially during summer.
As calendar flips, there are so many variations made, there are halo-halos topped with sorbetes or leche flan.
With all those special halo-halo treats made, I'd still go for classic halo-halos.
Yung nabibili mo lang sa kalye ng 10 pesos, but I can't seem to find one in our place :(
