My favorite color is Burnt Ošrange
Yeah not baby pink. Not aesthetic beige. Not "clean girl" white.
Burnt orange.
The kind you see on clay pots at Nkwo market. The kind that stains your fingers after suya at 9pm. The kind of sunset we got in Awka last Tuesday right before NEPA took light and everyone just stood outside to watch it š
People always ask me why Iām drawn to it. Honestly? Because burnt orange feels like me on my good days AND my bad days.
When Iām down, it gives me "warmth".
Like someone threw a thick wrapper over my shoulders and said "rest small".
Itās the color of home. Of groundnut and palm oil and my grandmaās veranda.
It tells my nervous system "youāre safe, you can exhale now".
But when Iām lazy, it gives me "fire".
Itās the color of "get up".
Burnt orange doesnāt let you stay comfortable for too long. It nudges you like "na you go do it". Bills wonāt pay themselves. Goals wonāt chase themselves.
I have one burnt orange wrapper I only wear on Mondays and on days I feel invisible.
The second I tie it, my back straightens. My voice gets louder. I answer emails Iāve been avoiding for 3 days.
The irony? My room is blue and white. Pinterest calm. "Soft life" vibes.
But my soul? My soul is burnt orange. Loud, warm, a little messy, but always moving.
So tell me ā Whatās your color?
And real talk: does it match who you are, or is it the version of you youāre trying to become? š
