Few days ago, I made a post about how my course mates and I were put into groups and made to work on the phytochemical screening of some plants. My group and I had to work on the kenaf leaf and fortunately, everything went on smoothly.
So, it’s time for the presentation. The presentation day for this work was scheduled for a Friday and my group members and I made preparations. Our lecturer, Dr Armah and his TAs decided each group would have 15 minutes to do the presentation and also answer the questions asked. Because of how the lecturer in charge is, everyone had to prepare because he calls on anyone to present at anytime he decides instead of sticking to who the group decides to go with.😅
If you’ve been a student and you haven’t taken part in a group work, you hate being called. Am I right?😅
I made preparations with my members and we had to be seated before 8am. It was well organized because every group knew when they’ll present but we were required to be seated by 8am.
Although, our lecturer made provisions for us to be seated early and know what we were doing, it wouldn’t be natural if we students didn’t mess up. The first group wasn’t ready when they supposed to and that got our lecturer pissed. He initially said they were done and he’d give them all zero which no one doubted but he allowed them to present after everyone did.😂
The second group started which meant my group would go earlier than expected. We continued our prep outside and asked and answered a few questions of our own.
At the beginning we were all allowed in the lab but because we couldn’t keep our mouths shut, every other group aside the one presenting and the next one was kicked out.
Some people used it as opportunities to take pictures because you might not have everyone around after the presentation. So for a change, my course mates were taking pictures before presentation.
When it was my group’s turn to present, we made our way into the chemistry laboratory. Another group was presenting so we stood at the back and I got to take a few shots. We got to see them present and also hear some of the questions. We weren’t asked even a single one of such questions.
We stepped up to present and we did our job. We didn’t keep long in presenting because time was already far spent and it was clear the panel was tired. 3 people were selected to present and they did a marvelous job. We were able to answer our question too and so we left the lab quite happy. The group suggested we took pictures to remember the day.
One of our members didn’t stay back and so we had to do it without him.

Overall, it was fun and educative. Doing this kind of practical for a change felt good.
