It’s been around a week since we aquired 4 sweet hens & I can see that they’re getting fatter, already. Another couple of weeks & they should be laying eggs :)
They’re getting more used to us & like to hang out by our open kitchen in an island of flowers/plants — where they have shade & protection from predators (eagles, dogs, etc…)
Yesterday evening, we put a finishing touch to chicken coup and installed a door and more wooden boards. Night fell & we continued hammering away in the dark with the help of our flashlight and iPhones.
Wonderful to wake up to this new project and later on, we might work on perfecting their roof. But, for now, they are protected & happy.
Meantime, our little tomato 🍅 seeds & cilantro 🌿 are sprouting.
Before bed, getting ready to brush my teeth, I encountered this remarkable, jewel-like insect, in the bathroom. Can’t tell if it’s a beetle or light bug (firefly); anyone out there know?
