As I grow older, I think more about mortality and meeting my Maker. This is why, as a writer, I wish for my poetry to express gratitude and awe — in short to be like a prayer.
Below, is a an example of such a poem that tries to meditate on our life’s purpose by simplifying matters without, I hope, being simplistic.
May you find some calm & peace in these words 🙏🏽✨
Summary
The hands were made to clasp
the knees designed to bend
the body created to pray.
What else is there to say?
The mouth was shaped to gasp
the eyes drawn to attend
the soul commanded to obey.
What else is there to say?
The memory was wired to lapse
the heart fashioned to rend
the will inclined to betray
What else is there to say?
