It's probably referring to the fact that investors can transfer their existing BTC to Grayscale in return for shares of the trust. So Grayscale adding BTC doesn't necessarily mean that they purchased it, but could also be that the BTC was transferred to them. It's still great either way because Grayscale doesn't sell any BTC, so the more BTC that goes into the trust is that much less that will be available for sale.
