And what about you? When did you learn to swim and where? Who was the person who taught you to swim, and did you like it, or maybe you were scared or uncomfortable?
I’m only “now” learning to swim.😅
When I was younger—maybe around 12 years old—I used to go to a swimming pool with an instructor. But an injury to my right shoulder (a subluxation) made me give up back then. We know what a child is like when they aren’t challenged to push themselves. Fears set in. And that’s exactly what happened. I never learned to swim… Until now, at 47, when I felt the urge to put my insecurities and fears behind me and take adult swimming lessons at my gym’s pool. I’ve been taking lessons since late November of last year, and although it’s not as easy as I thought it would be, I’m really enjoying it.
The sense of relaxation and calm I feel when I leave class is a fantastic feeling. The weightlessness of the water is something very natural and fluid. I hope to be able to swim one day!
