Here is my entry for the #monomad contest by 
On an island nestled in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, some 43 km from the island of Madeira – internationally renowned as the ‘Pearl of the Atlantic’ – we come across a patch of land rising from the open sea.
Its sandy shores make the island a true paradise, but one that is entirely dependent on transport – both for food and for other essentials – from the island of Madeira.
The just over 5,000 local residents are joined by the 135,000 visitors who come throughout the year to enjoy the fine weather, the wonderful people, the idyllic landscapes and the vast sandy beaches…
One year when I visited Porto Santo, whilst waiting for a taxi on one of the island’s busiest streets, I took the opportunity to capture the unique moments of that sunny late-summer afternoon...
