Last night, we spent our first night in the new house, and one thing stood out above all else: the silence. After six years in the heart of the city, we’d grown used to the constant soundtrack of urban life—sirens, shouting, arguments, and the occasional gunshot. But here? Nothing. Just peaceful, uninterrupted quiet. It’s an adjustment we’re more than happy to make.

I remember when we moved from Budapest to the countryside in 2015.

We experienced almost the same.

From the above mentioned things, we have not heard occasional gunshot in Budapest at all.

And I born, I grew up, and I lived 22 years in Budapest.

Of course not much people have guns in Hungary, while it is quite common in the USA.

But otherwise my city experience is more or less the same as yours.

And my village experience is exactly the same.

Quiet, peaceful life.

And financially it is much more affordable than the cities.

At least in my country (in Hungary).

Either way, nowadays I live in with a cave/tent living community in the rocky semi-desert on Tenerife since the spring of 2023, and it is not as good as before.

It changed a lot in the recent past.

But I already mentioned this in another comment.

Probably I will move in the near future.
