One of the most commonly mentioned, and talked about, is the mutually opposing duo of "Left" and "Right". At the very least, they are expected to be mutually opposing.

The whole politics (at least the parliamentary republic) is built on this. Divide and rule. Often there are opposing forces even in the same side. Or the different sides are only the looks. There are dictatorships too, of course. There are no sides in that system.

I am going straight (I avoid politics).
