Lies and deception is one of the most pervasive sins in our society, to such an extent that the conscience of many Christians has become desensitized and weakened with respect to this sin. Today many see it as something normal and common among believers themselves.
Recall that a lie doubts all truths.
Why is the sin of deceit so terrible? Deception and lying are very destructive sins because they deteriorate our relationships with others, with God and with ourselves. And when we conspire with others to try to deceive God and our fellowmen, as one of the examples we find in the scriptures about what Ananias and Sapphira did, then things get even more complicated.
¿What is the lie?
The lie is the affirmation or denial of a thing, when in reality it is different or contrary to the truth and its main objective is deception.
So the lie brings destruction and deteriorates:
1.- Our relationships with others.
Our relationships with other people should be based on mutual trust, because deception hurts a lot and deteriorates that confidence and leads to contempt. In addition we must have healthy relationships in all areas of our lives.
2.- Our relationship with God.
The relationship with God is the most important and must be based on a sincere admission of sin and acceptance of divine forgiveness in the person and work of Jesus Christ. One of the things that God hates about man is lies, because God is light and truth and is the father of truth. Let's remember that the father of the lie has nothing to do with God.Deception leads us to rationalize our behavior; that is, it makes us look for excuses for our wrong facts.
3.- Another interesting point is that lying hurts ourselves.
The most terrible thing that can happen to a human being is to deceive oneself. How terrible it is to see a person who begins to believe in their own lies! It is certainly an unprecedented destruction that is very harmful morally, socially and spiritually. Self-deception damages our relationships with others and also with God.
God teaches us to reject lying and deception in all its variants and forms, because this brings terrible consequences for humanity.
We must discard them in all areas of our lives, at home as well as at work, with friends, the church, the school ... in every area and relationship.
