Well as I stated, that's a bad approach. Which is not directly fault of your team but the limitations of the current system.

This is why I believe threespeak is attempting to be the hero of video but sidestepping the real issues as to why video isn't flourishing on blockchain.

That is then more to the point of why I think you need to focus on ATTENTION first. Build a large audience before the incentives.

3Speak is embarrassingly underutilized. People on Hive seem to not be interested in engaging with video content because shitposts using text suffices their hunger for rewards.

The dependence people place on incentives in this space actually destroys progress imo. The system then becomes a constricted group/tribe/project of committed extractors.. with nothing produced that actually attracts interest from those NOT chasing rewards.

Your vision is to bring in external creators but you also EXPECT them to bring in their audiences. As I mentioned, it's a very small amount of devoted followers that would do that. Think back to davidpakman@davidpakman when he joined steemit. Everyone thought his audience would add growth to the chain by his video content but on his YT page he had to explain over and over to people what even steemit was. David is still here in obscurity doing his cross posting extracting what he can, but likely no one from his audience from YT remembers or knows he's still here.

Anyway the solution to fix such a fundamental of how a system can flourish: AUDIENCE ; ATTENTION isn't straight forward. You got to correct behavior essentially but the other way is to create a protocol that makes the content exclusive to your platform. If it can be "cross-posted" onto a FREE platform (where majority of viewers remain) then you simply can't generate growth.

Content exclusive to SPK that rewards CREATOR, VIEWER, ENGAGER, PROMOTOR intuitively would be something that could go a long way to growth. Not instant but guaranteed by not leaking in any of the mentioned factors.

For example I create a video. Firstly I've likely got a few loyals that simply donate to me because it makes them feel part of the creative process. My viewers get rewarded for actually viewing. Commentators too get return on their effort. Those that promote that content also get an incremental return. Reblog within the system minor, promotion outside of the system... that attracts more views/comments/users better rewarded.

THE CONTENT however is only playable in your system. Now that's easier said than done but THAT is when incentives work as they should. But again, not everyone will care to get rewarded, but to be part of the network and the engagement and support creators that appreciate you by the network rewarding your position is then what exists as a subconscious decision in the mind of a human that says "wow this place has a better system, I'm here on YT doing the same and all they want to give me is more ads."

From your perspective (the Dev), how that can be implemented is another matter though. I have no clue! Just like digital rights and DRM though, is my view. Which then would have to be a system that not only rewards but also punishes. Content that for instance is played repeatedly outside of SPK should trigger a warning that a) This content has rewards attached if viewed on SPK. b) reproduction of this content without approval may result in your account terminated on this platform.

So then the actual platforms are then liable and need to be accountable, which means they need to comply with your set criteria. Just how they honor digital rights of music, movies, copyrighted, propriety material.

So see, it's not straight forward. Or quick and easy. But if you want to create a new system that will attempt to be better than the old and create a 'safespace' against censorship AND show the superiority and value of blockchain/web3.0 then it takes much more than just incentives for people to save a file onto their hard drive that may or may not be viewed by anyone else.

What I see on Hive repeatedly is "development" but the reality is that success isn't even necessary. The project creators know they'll extract money along the way so if it actually does succeed is just a bonus. What I DON'T SEE on Hive is actual critical thinking where people analyze the possibility of success. Only people that parrot "yay this will moon Hive!" and that blind belief can infect development that begin to think they are on that path.

See LEO as an example. In theory they thought A ROPE BRIDGE would give the crypto world orgasms. In practice.. not even some primo. Why? Because they shot ahead trying to save the world before they first accumulated a big enough audience.
