Yeah my point on aggros work wasn't that he seeks money. The point was that the project of his that has succeeded most is Splinterlands because it has a sustainable underlying playability for the user and then an underlying money game that rewards the contribution (time and money spent) from the user.
So then his NFTshowroom and Lensy projects aren't as successful because they lack those two elements. Buying an NFT has no purpose beyond existing in a buyer's possession. Whereas a card in a card game has purpose and intrinsic value.
I agree with you that the system is evolving to facilitate community minds such as yourself to find ways to contribute to growth rather than just the high stakes profit extractors of old. The recent post from aggroed of 'OUTPOSTS' is a good step in that direction.
I've always believed that customizable UIs for communities to present their 'flavor' of the Hive experience makes more sense than simply one or two frontends, with everyone hidden away in their community groups and their content lost in the noise with only the odd post surfacing above the 'auto voted' posts that make The Trending page... which no one really engages with other than that "curated" vote.
It's a slow game to make the system better than how it originally got design as. That's something this place sufferers from and it's really a self inflicted sickness. Coding new changes take so damn long and that's got to be a contributor to the poor user retention.
As you see on dalz post, still a large amount of user accounts created just don't get involved. Like you mentioned aswell, an account that is inactive over 90 days will likely never return. Because the Hive experience is too limited really. However things like UI changes, social tools, new thriving communities etc.. would definitely bring back users that would by those changes, see the system as improved and worth another try.
Just the same way many came back when the Hive chain was born.
