Carles Puchememon
In the early parliamentary elections in Catalonia, a majority of the votes were given to parties that favor the secession of the region from Spain.
After counting 97.5% of the ballots, it was reported that these parties receive 70 seats in the 135-seat regional parliament, when an absolute majority requires 68 seats.
The former head of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemond, in the meantime, urged Madrid to allow him to return to Spain. He also does not rule out that he can again become president of the region.
